How Our Drug Rehab Services Near Over-the-Rhine Can Help You
At Sunrise Treatment Center, our outpatient drug and alcohol treatment program in Over-the-Rhine is built around each patient: personalized care from a team that treats substance use and any co-occurring conditions together, so you can get started right away. We're often able to schedule same-day or next-day appointments.
We prioritize your safety and comfort throughout treatment. A dedicated team of professionals will monitor your progress and support your well-being, and we'll work with you on financial concerns or other circumstances that might otherwise stand in the way of getting care.
Effective addiction treatment goes beyond stopping substance use. At Sunrise, we treat the whole person: addressing underlying mental health needs, building practical life skills, and providing ongoing therapeutic support so you can rebuild a full, meaningful life.
Outpatient Drug Rehab In Over-the-Rhine
Sunrise Treatment Center offers outpatient addiction treatment, including our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), to help you overcome substance use and build lasting recovery. Because you continue living at home, our outpatient programs let you keep up with work, school, and family responsibilities while you get the care you need.
Your treatment plan may include individual and group therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy for co-occurring mental health concerns, and medication-assisted treatment when appropriate. Session schedules range from a few hours a week to several hours a day depending on the level of care you need, giving you more structure than standard outpatient care while still letting you keep your daily routine.
-
Non-Residential Setting: Outpatient rehab lets you live at home and keep up with your daily routine while you receive treatment.
-
Scheduled Sessions: You'll attend therapy and counseling on a set schedule, ranging from a few sessions a week to several hours a day, depending on the intensity of your program.
-
Less Intensive: Outpatient care is generally less intensive than inpatient treatment. It still supports your recovery and mental health, but you keep more freedom and responsibility in your daily life.
-
Flexibility: Outpatient treatment offers more scheduling flexibility, which makes it a good fit if a full-time residential program isn't realistic given work, family, or other commitments.
Transitional Housing for IOP Patients
For patients enrolled in our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) who need more structure and stability while they keep rebuilding their lives, Sunrise offers
transitional housing at our Portsmouth, Ohio location. This program offers a nurturing environment where you can continue healing while gradually returning to daily life.
At Sunrise, you'll find a supportive community and a structured program built to empower your recovery:
-
Personalized Treatment: Tailored plans that address your individual needs and goals
-
Comprehensive Therapy: Individual and group sessions that support healing on every level
-
Life Skills Training: Practical tools for managing daily challenges in sobriety
-
Medication Management: Expert care that supports your physical and mental well-being
Transitional housing strikes a balance between added support and personal freedom. It's a good fit if you need more stability than a traditional outpatient schedule alone provides while you continue IOP treatment. Our team is here to guide you every step of the way as you build the confidence and skills you need for lasting recovery.
Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. A fulfilling, substance-free life is possible, and we're here to support you through every challenge along the way.
Mental Health Services
Sunrise Treatment Center recognizes that substance use often coincides with co-occurring mental health conditions like depression, anxiety, and trauma.
That's why we've built mental health treatment into our addiction care. We first became certified to treat co-occurring mental health conditions alongside substance use disorders in 2018, and in 2025 we expanded the program to accept mental health patients even without a co-occurring substance use disorder. Our clinicians are trained to address the connection between mental health and substance use so you get integrated, coordinated care.
Our mental health services include:
Treating addiction alongside any underlying mental health concerns matters for long-term recovery, and we aim to give patients a supportive, judgment-free environment to do that work.
Medically-Assisted Detoxification
Withdrawal from drugs or alcohol can be uncomfortable and, in some cases, medically risky. When appropriate, our medical providers can use medication to ease withdrawal symptoms on a case-by-case basis, helping you get through this stage as safely and comfortably as possible. This matters most for patients managing more severe alcohol or
opioid dependence.
Our Over-the-Rhine location is staffed by medical providers who will evaluate your situation and determine the safest path forward, whether that means medication support here at Sunrise or a referral to a higher level of care if your needs go beyond what outpatient treatment can safely provide.
Individual & Group Counseling Sessions
Counseling is a cornerstone of recovery. Individual counseling gives you a private, focused space to work through your struggles, with a treatment plan built around the specific issues you're facing with addiction and mental health.
Group counseling builds peer support by connecting you with others facing similar challenges. We also encourage patients to get involved in community-based recovery groups like Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), and SMART Recovery, which offer shared experience and encouragement outside of scheduled sessions.

We Offer Compassionate Care To Residents In Over-the-Rhine
Hamilton County's overdose deaths fell to 194 in 2025, the lowest figure since 2012 and a fourth straight annual decline from a peak of 570 in 2017. Some of the hardest work behind that number happened in neighborhoods like this one, where outreach teams and harm reduction programs have been on the ground for years.
Our Over-the-Rhine clinic is on Central Parkway at the edge of the West End, walking distance from Findlay Market and a short ride from Government Square where most Metro routes connect. If you are coming from downtown, Clifton, Camp Washington, or Northside, you can get here without a car.
Over-the-Rhine has changed a great deal in twenty years, and not everyone who lives here has felt the benefit of it. We are here for the people who have been in this neighborhood the whole time, not just the version of it that shows up in magazines.
You do not need a plan before you call. Same-day and next-day appointments are usually available, and we will walk through insurance, Medicaid, or our sliding fee program so cost is not what stops you.
